Salary: £16,168.80 - £24,777 per year (M1 - UPS2 Fringe)

Hours: 24 hours a week - to be arranged

This school is part of a Group of over 20 SEN schools in the UK and is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

They're currently looking for a part time Art teacher for their Caterham Education Centre in Caterham, Surrey. The centre supports young people aged 11 – 16 who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism, and challenging behaviour.

This Centre is a 30-place secondary/post 16 learning centre for young people with ASD/SEMH, based in the heart of the community in Caterham-on-the-hill, with brand new state of the art conversion.

They are linked closely to another School in the Group and share the same Headteacher and Senior Management Team, however each site has its own Assistant Head and team of Teachers and TAs. Although the sites operate separately on the whole, students do cross between sites occasionally.

Please note that duties will vary and you must expect to lend a hand wherever is required.


Skills and Qualifications

  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training

  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profile

  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures

  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
