Position: SEN KS3 Teacher

Location: Gloucestershire, Berkeley

Permanent salary: £30,000.00 - £44,870.00 (M1 – UPS2)

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week - Part time will also be considered

Your Skills:

Essential:

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training

  • Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with SEMH.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate diploma in SEN

  • Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs

  • Experience in working with SEMH or ASD students is desirable

The Role:

  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.

  • Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.

  • Monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.

  • Develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.

  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

This is a bespoke school for 11-16 year olds with SEMH needs, having taken the best elements of a mainstream school and the best elements of a special school to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive in a future of their own choosing. The school aims to prepare students for life beyond school, so further education and employability is truly at the heart of our culture and ethos.

They are currently looking for a SEN primary model/KS3 specialist.


As a SEN KS3 Teacher, you will deliver high quality teaching and learning to children and young people with SEMH and other complex or anxiety related needs who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their diagnosis. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.

Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.


The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and we are therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
